The show recieved nothing but rave reviews and she is well on her way to transforming Swedish style. Watch out H&M!

The World of Stella

Just a quick note for you Stella McCartney fans. From February 6th-20th Selfridges will be hosting 'The World of Stella' in their London Flagship store. The store is going to be transformed into a tribute to Stella McCartney and her designs. Her new collections and collaborations with other brands such as Adidas and Notify will be featured as well. On February 13 from 5-6pm Stella will make a personal appearance at the store. You can get more information from Selfridges website.

Sonia Rykiel handbag

Made by Sonia Rykiel, this is the clutch to have this season. The fabric is a beautifully draped pattern of suede and has a large decorative bow in the center. The handle itself acts as a bracelet giving the look of two accessories in one. It is available now at Sonia Rykiel and comes in many lovely shades.

Vintage Posters

There is something about vintage posters and photographs that I love. Though I am not exactly sure what it is. They are classic, creative, and it interests me to see images that have been captured in an era that I was not part of. Vintage posters are truly original and simple advertisements, unlike the complex graphics that are presented to us these days.

Brigitte Bardot is a French actress, model, and singer who is wildly famous for her sexy plantinum blonde look and persona from the 1950s to 70s. Her style: She took the classic American look (think Ralph Lauren) and put a French twist on it.

I must be on a Sex and the City kick or something because I cannot stop looking at pictures from the filming of the movie. Rumor has it March is the release date. On February 22, it will be four years since the show aired its final episode.

This A/W 2008 season, designers give you many options for your shoes. Would you like stillettos...wedges...lace-ups? I think designers are also trying to say "the higher, the better". The shoes are bold, bright, heavy, and textured. Wear if you dare!

Hot Water Bottle Revisted

The hot water bottle I own and wrote about in one of my first posts was mentioned in Grazia Magazine this week (January 28 issue). It has some wise words of advice. " Sauvignon Blanc + boiling kettles = third degree burns". I also, do not suggest using a hot water bottle while drinking, but I am sure most if not all of you probably knew that already!

Birthday Night

Yesterday was my birthday and we went out to dinner for curry. Not just any curry, but posh curry! The Bombay Bicycle Club.

This was not your normal Indian restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was beautiful. Sitting at our table we felt as if we were on a beach holiday. As a bonus, the waiters gave us champagne, liqueur, and dessert on the house. They even gave me a 'special' birthday candle for the table.

Farewell Valentino

Valentino Garavani walked down his last haute couture runway this week. The runway show in Paris was a spectacular event with a star studded audience. Valentino’s fashion house is one of the most famous in the world and even though he is retiring, the Valentino name and empire will still exist with a new design team. As the fashion legend took his final walk to a standing ovation, the audience was full of tears, but Valentino kept his cool. After 45 years of making fashion history, Valentino will greatly be missed, but I have a feeling this will not be the last we see of him and glamorous creations.

Out in London Town

Last night we went out to celebrate my cousin Erin Rose's birthday. Even though we were running late, we decided to stop outside a store and admire a beautiful chaise lounge in the window.

We got to the restaurant, PJ's Bar and Grill in South Kensington, realizing we were the first ones to arrive. Good thing, because I feel awful when I arrive somewhere late. After a few birthday drinks and some chit chat, we parted with the group and my love and I went out to dinner at The Little French Restaurant in Earl's Court.

On our way home, I noticed a house that I pass by every day, but never noticed the lights by the front door at night. Looks great, don't you think?.

It was a lovely night. Happy birthday Erin Rose once again and I hope you had a great evening!

Early autumn I bought a stylish orange coat from Zara. I was looking for one similar to Audrey Hepburn's (my style icon) in Breakfast at Tiffany's for a few years. It is a beautiful color that simply fits the season. The look is classy and sophisticated. Hubert de Givenchy is the genius who created the iconic coat for the movie in the 60's, and ever since then, designers have been imitating and re-creating the trend.

Gucci Collage

Unfortunately, Frida Giannini's S/S 2008 collection for Gucci was not the biggest hit of the season. Runway reviews preferred Gucci's Resort Collection over its ready-to-wear. I on the other hand, liked many pieces from this collection. Gucci will forever be classic black and white no matter what season. This time Frida Giannini added hues of yellow and pink. My favorite piece? The lovely voluminous- high waisted skirt shown in the first picture.

Laura Mercier makes a cream that I swear by. It is called Crème Brulee Souffle Body Creme and it truly is an indulgence. I recommend it for those who want a slightly heavier moisturizing-hydrating cream. The delightful scent is that of a rich dessert, and by no means is it overpowering. For ultra pampering, use it after bathing with Laura Mercier's Crème Brulee Honey Bath. Ooo La La!

I read a review about the tea and I have to say that I am not completely convinced. See for yourself, but hey, if its good enough for Posh, it must work....right?!?

Get that glamorous glow

Just wanted to share one of my favorite beauty products. Benefit Cosmetics makes a wonderful light pink complexion highlighter called High Beam. If I am not wearing any makeup, I dab High Beam over my cheekbones and my skin looks radiant and clean. I also put it over blush or bronzer. The finishing look is sexy, sultry, and screams glamour!

Quite possibly the best gift idea…

As a Christmas stocking stuffer, my British beau gave me a heart warmer. It’s a hot water bottle as they call it here in England. I am not sure what we call it in America, since I have never used one before. All you have to do is boil some water, fill the bottle up, carefully tighten the lid, and voila! Instant relaxation. You can warm your chest, back, neck, and (anything else you want!). I spent all night carrying it around the house with me, but I personally prefer cuddling with it in bed. I was surprised to find out that the bottle, which is made out of rubber, stays warm for well over an hour.
Added bonus: It comes with accessories. Mine (pictured above) has an adorable red knitted cover with a white heart on it. I searched the internet and found all sorts of covers such as leopard print and faux fur.
I highly recommend this little bundle of joy!

Mellow Yellow

I have always loved the color yellow. As a blonde, I personally feel that it is a tricky color to wear, particularly with my olive skin tone. I do not own many items in yellow, but thanks to a ‘little’ fashion haven called Topshop, I have finally met my match. It is a light weight, 100% cotton, short sleeved shirt. The top is a darker shade of yellow which I find to be fun yet classy. It can easily be worn during the day or dressed up for the evening. The sleeves uniquely add great character (the main reason I purchased the shirt). Available now at Topshop.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Britt Marie, a twenty-something year old fashion aficionada. My love for fashion goes back to my childhood (not too long ago…) when I would sit and flip through my mothers issues of Vogue and Bazaar, admiring the beautiful and delicate models that grace the pages. As I got a bit older, I would use my entire allowance to actually buy those magazines and maybe a shirt or two that resembled those I read about. Then came the college years, as my allowance increased drastically (to be used only for food and necessities as my mother would tell me) so did my shopping. Now, after entering the real world there is no doubt in my mind that the fashion industry is where I belong and intend to stay.

I decided to start this blog in order to share my enthusiasm about fashion with you. I will additionally cover topics such as beauty, art, books, and lifestyle since all those subjects, I believe, have influenced fashion in the past, present, and will continue to do so in the future.
